Defender signs two-year deal at Portman Road
Ipswich Town have completed the signing of former Charlton defender Ben Thatcher on a two-year deal.
The 32-year-old's contract expired at The Valley at the end of last season, but he has now agreed terms with Charlton's Championship rivals Ipswich.
Thatcher impressed manager Jim Magilton during a pre-season trial and he is now tied to Portman Road until 2010.
The Wales international left-back turned down interest from the Premier League, with West Ham understood to be admirers, in order to join Ipswich.
And he is now expected to go straight into Magilton's squad for Saturday's match at Burnley.
