Inter midfielder pencils in October return

Patrick Vieira has revealed he is hopeful of making his France comeback in October. The Inter Milan midfielder missed his country's three group games at Euro 2008 due to a thigh problem, and had admitted after the competition that he was unsure if he would continue to play international football. But the 32-year-old has confirmed he is on the road to recovery from his long-term injury and is looking to battle for a place in Raymond Domenech's side for the World Cup qualifier against Romania on 11th October. He told L'Equipe: "I am back on track to my best. I am working again with the Internazionale group without fear. "I am always strongly linked to Les Bleus. That is my main motivation to stay at the best level, aiming to play at the 2010 World Cup. "In a part of my mind, I have taken note of the French team match in Romania. "I still have a competitive fire deep inside of me, even during training sessions. You will see again Patrick Vieira at his best level, without any doubt."
