Stockport came from behind to earn a late 2-2 draw against Cheltenham in League One.

Loan Cheltenham signings denied debut win

Loan signings Stuart Fleetwood and Josh Payne both scored on their Cheltenham debuts but the home side were left to rue a late equaliser from Michael Raynes as Stockport came from behind to earn a 2-2 draw. Fleetwood scored against the run of play after 32 minutes, plucking Alex Russell's cross out of the air before coolly sliding a shot past goalkeeper Owain fon Williams. County, who dominated for large parts of the game but created few chances, hauled themselves level 10 minutes into the second half from Peter Thompson's brave diving header from Anthony Pilkington's near-post cross. As the visitors pressed for a winner, Thompson went close with a glancing header but it was Martin Allen's Cheltenham side who scored again when Fleetwood was brought down by fon Williams after 67 minutes. Scott Murray, another loan signing, saw his initial spot-kick saved by Williams and his follow-up header hit the bar, but the alert Payne was on hand to fire in the loose ball. Raynes then popped up with a headed equaliser after 90 minutes from Jim McNulty's cross and the visitors came close to snatching a win themselves when Pilkington's left-foot shot struck the bar in stoppage time.
