Canny Gannon substitution works a treat

Supersub Leon McSweeney earned Stockport a point at 10-man Southend with a wonderstrike less than 60 seconds after coming on to the pitch. County were 1-0 down when manager Jim Gannon brought on the Irish defender in the 63rd minute. And he eqaulised after picking up the ball in the Southend half and unleashing a 25-yard right-foot shot into the top corner. Southend had taken the lead in the 19th minute when Adam Federici's goal kick was flicked on by Alex Revell and Lee Barnard turned Jaroslaw Fojut and then fired past visiting goalkeeper Fraser Forster. The Shrimpers were reduced to 10 men in the 68th minute when Dan Harding got a harsh straight red card from referee Trevor Kettle following a late challenge on McSweeney.
