Accrington make point at Victoria Road

Accrington Stanley held Dagenham & Redbridge to a 0-0 draw at a rain-sodden Victoria Road. The home side were fortunate to go into the break on level terms as Stanley hit the woodwork twice through John Miles and James Ryan, but a much-improved second half display saw the Daggers almost nick a winner themselves. Early on, Chris King saw his shot from distance held by Tony Roberts, before Miles fired a 25-yard curler that smashed against the post. Stanley adapted to the horrible conditions much better than the home side as John Mullin tried his luck from distance, before Ryan saw his drive also rebound off the woodwork. Dagenham then upped the tempo as Ben Strevens saw his effort blocked by keeper Kenny Arthur before Paul Benson shot wide of the target. After the break, Benson came close again, as did Sam Saunders, before substitute Magnus Okuonghae wasted a fine late chance when he placed his header wide.
