But hosts rue failure to take chances

Hartlepool were made to pay for their wastefulness in front of goal as they were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Bristol Rovers. The result means both teams have gone through November without a league win, but Pools will feel they had enough of the ball to claim three points. The hosts took an early lead when defender Michael Nelson headed in a chip from the right by Matty Robson, whose original corner had been returned to him by Kevin Kyle. But Rovers came back well, Jo Kuffour forcing Arran Lee-Barrett into a smart save after 23 minutes with a low 20-yard shot. Two minutes later, the visitors were level when Joe Jacobson's pass opened up the home defence for Jeff Hughes to go wide on the left of the area before scoring from a tight angle. Kyle scraped the top of the Rovers bar with a header from another Robson corner after 73 minutes, and Robson had a blazing shot brilliantly saved by Rovers keeper Steve Phillips a few minutes later as they held on for a draw.
