Bean goal enough to seal Griffin Park win
Brentford extended their lead at the top of League Two with a hard-fought 1-0 win over promotion rivals Bury.
Marcus Bean's volley six minutes before the break was enough to settle a thrilling top-of-the-table clash.
Bean was on hand to lash home Sam Wood's half-cleared corner from 12 yards to give the Bees the edge.
Bury's cause was not helped 20 minutes from the end when Stephen Dawson was sent off for a second bookable offence after kicking the ball away.
Early on Bury edged it with Mike Jones forcing a superb double-save from home keeper Ben Hamer.
But in the end Brentford deserved the points and could have stretched their lead with Charlie MacDonald twice going close in the dying stages.
