Williams missing for Posh, Hammond setback for Robins

Tom Williams has joined Peterborough United's injury list ahead of the visit of Cheltenham Town, who have problems up front. Williams suffered knee ligament damage in the win at Oldham last weekend and will sit out the rest of the campaign so Shane Blackett will return at left-back in Darren Ferguson's only change. Defender Craig Morgan remains out with the toe injury that has sidelined him since the end of January and midfielder Lee Frecklington (hamstring) is also out. Jamie Day continues to sit out Posh's promotion push due to a back injury, having not played since last September. A win over the division's bottom side would see Ferguson's men overtake Leicester at the summit and put pressure on Nigel Pearson's side who face Hereford on Saturday. Posh were last in the Championship in the 1993-94 season but a run of seven straight wins has put them in pole position to win promotion along with the Foxes.

Cheltenham news

Cheltenham boss Martin Allen will have to rejig his forward line ahead of the trip to London Road due to the absence of Elvis Hammond. The Robins striker has picked up an ankle injury and will miss the clash, which could see the club take another giant stride towards inevitable relegation. Cheltenham's status as a League Two club could be confirmed after Easter Monday's home clash against Yeovil, but Allen will be looking for plenty of spirit from his side regardless of results between now and 2nd May. Forward Nicholas Bignall returned to parent club Reading on Wednesday due to a groin injury and will therefore not feature. Midfielder David Bird and defender Alan Wright both remain sidelined with their respective calf injuries, while defender Gavin Caines (knee) remains a long-term absentee. John Finnigan (hamstring) and Shane Duff (calf) were both on the bench for last weekend's 1-0 defeat to Leyton Orient before playing 45 minutes each for the reserves in midweek, and they are both in contention along with Lee Ridley (calf). Midfielder Josh Low also returns from his three-match suspension.
