Nijholt eyes managerial post at old club
Former Motherwell defender Luc Nijholt is dreaming of an emotional return to Fir Park as the club's manager.
The Steelmen are on the lookout for a new boss following Mark McGhee's decision to take on the managerial role at Aberdeen.
Nijholt enjoyed a three-year spell at Motherwell from 1990-1993 playing over 100 games for the club and became an instant fans' favourite amongst the Fir Park crowd.
The Dutchman is currently assistant manager to Co Adriaanse at Red Bull Salzburg, who won the Austrian title this season, but he is keen on a move back to Scotland.
"I have always said if the timing was right I would love to go back and manage Motherwell," he told the Scottish Dailly Express.
"I won a Scottish Cup there and had a great time and the club will always have a very special place in my heart.
"I still look out for Well's results and have a lot of friends in Scotland so the manager's job would be a dream for me.
"I have picked up a lot of experience in Holland and working with Co Adriaanse, who is a top coach, and I definitely want to go in to management again in my own right.
"If that was at Motherwell it would be a dream come true for me, especially as the club are also in Europe next season."
