Bids submitted for striker, according to Le Mans president

Marseille and Atletico Madrid have submitted offers for striker Gervinho, according to Le Mans. The Ivory Coast international impressed in France last season to attract the attention of a host of clubs across Europe and he has been linked with Arsenal. But Marseille and Atletico, who will both be competing in the UEFA Champions League in 2009/10, are said to have stolen a march in the race for the 22-year-old. A third club is also showing interest in Gervinho and Le Mans expect to receive a bid from that side before the weekend. The Ligue 1 team's president Henri Legarda told French press: "I have received two offers for Gervinho.

Dream

"There is another club who have contacted me and they have told me they will make a bid in the next 48 hours." Gervinho has previously admitted his interest in a move and he has again confessed that Marseille and Atletico are appealing. He said: "I am in the hands of the president. He is controlling everything. "I am returning to training at the end of this week and we will see. "Marseille will be a dream but Atletico can be fantastically offensive (attacking) with players like Sergio Aguero and Diego Forlan."
