Pittman strike clinches 2-1 success

Jon-Paul Pittman's superb late strike gave Wycombe their first win of the season as they beat in-form Bristol Rovers 2-1. Matt Phillips' excellent first-half goal from distance had earlier cancelled out Chris Lines' opener for Rovers. Ten minutes in, Stuart Green's cross was nodded down into the path of Ian Westlake but the young midfielder's weak finish was easily saved by Rhys Evans. The first goal came after 26 minutes when Danny Coles headed down Stuart Campbell's corner for Lines to sweep into the Wanderers net from close range. The Chairboys struck back less than 10 minutes later when Phillips picked up the ball on the left and came inside before finding the top corner with a superb long-range effort. The Chairboys were the better side after the break and the winner came 10 minutes from time when substitute Pittman turned sharply on the edge of the box and curled the ball into the top corner.
