Hughes and Ritchie pile pressure on Northampton

Lee Hughes' second hat-trick of the season and a brace from Matt Ritchie helped Notts County come from behind to thrash 10-man Northampton 5-2. The Cobblers shaky start to the season had seen Stuart Gray sacked earlier in the week, with caretaker-boss Ian Sampson handed the perfect start when County goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel flapped at a long throw to allow Alex Dyer to score. Ritchie, on his full debut, out-jumped three at the far post to equalise shortly after, before Hughes steered home Johnnie Jackson's free-kick. Hughes headed in a Karl Hawley cross after the hour mark before Ritchie drilled home two minutes later on the edge of the box. Northampton's misery was complete when Chris McCready dragged down Hawley to see red, with Hughes converting the resulting penalty, before a late consolation from Andrew Holt. The result saw County maintain their unbeaten home league record and they have now scored 14 goals in four games.
