Abbondanzieri was Argentina's first-choice goalkeeper at the 2006 World Cup. The shot-stopper made his Argentina debut back in 2004 and has since landed 49 caps. He played five times at the 2006 World Cup, conceding just two goals in normal time. He helped his nation reach the quarter-finals, with his country losing to Germany on penalties.

Angel Bossio

Angel Bossio was part of Argentina's squad which finished as runners-up at the 1930 World Cup. Bossio was nicknamed the "elastic wonder" such was his incredible agility. After claiming a silver medal at the 1928 Olympic Games, Bossio was called upon for the first ever World Cup tournament. He played in his country's opening three matches in the group stage, winning each encounter as they finished top of Group 1.

Ubaldo Fillol

Fillol is considered one of the greatest goalkeepers to have graced the game. He boasted fine reflexes and played at three straight World Cups for his country Argentina. He was handed his debut on the world stage in 1974, featuring once against the Germans. Four years later he played a more prominent role, helping his nation claim glory on their homesoil while also being named the competition's best goalkeeper. At the 1982 tournament the Argentines exited at the second round stage.

Nery Pumpido

Pumpido was a World Cup winner with Argentina at the 1986 World Cup. After being called upon for the 1982 competition, he did not get a chance to shine in Spain. But four years later he was first-choice and ultimately victorious, keeping three clean sheets along his way to glory. He again played on the world stage in 1990 but suffered a broken leg in his country's second match, bringing his participation to a premature end.

Carlos Roa

Roa was Argentina's No.1 shot-stopper at the 1998 World Cup in France. After making his international debut in 1997, Roa was called upon for the famed competition a year later. Roa enjoyed a fine group stage campaign as Argentina progressed with ease and he kept three clean sheets. The Argentines then faced England in the last-16 and Roa emerged as a hero as he saved two spot-kicks after the match went to a penalty shoot-out. Alas, Argentina were beaten by Holland in the next round.

Antonio Roma

Argentina goalkeeper Roma played at both the 1962 and 1996 World Cups. He appeared twice in the group stage of the former tournament as his nation failed to advance. But four years later in England, Roma played in four games as Argentina departed the competition at the quarter-final stage. Roma, nicknamed Tarzan such was his enthusiasm when throwing himself around his goalmouth, made a total of 42 appearances for Argentina. Who do you think is Argentina's greatest keeper?
