Baggies boss praises his backline for keeping QPR out

Roy Hodgson highlighted the display from West Brom's defence in their 1-0 victory against relegation-threatened Queens Park Rangers at The Hawthorns. Graham Dorrans' long-range strike in the first-half handed the home side all three points. But Hodgson felt that if it wasn't for the hard work from his back four and goalkeeper Ben Foster, they might not have secured the win. He told Sky Sports: "I thought in the first half it was a good game from our side and I actually thought we played quite well. "In the second half I thought we lost a lot of the initiative and it went to QPR. They started bringing plenty of attacking players onto the field and they certainly asked a lot of questions about our defence. "So the key was the fact that we were able to dig in and defend so well in and around the penalty area, getting some good blocks and keeping them out because of the clean sheet which won us the game plus Dorrans' wonder strike." Albion are firmly lodged in mid-table on 42 points and are now all-but assured of a third straight season of top-flight football.
