Blunt Dagenham frustrate Portsmouth

Image: Jack Whatmough: Had a great goalscoring chance

Dagenham and Portsmouth played out a 0-0 draw at Victoria Road, despite both sides getting into great positions throughout the match.

It was a frantic start at Victoria Road, but neither side was able to create a clear cut opportunity despite a number of attacks taking place in the opening 20 minutes. Portsmouth created the best chance of the first half when Jed Wallace's corner was met by Jack Whatmough in the 36th minute. The defender, unmarked, headed over the bar from close range and it remained goalless at the break. Daggers created the first opportunity in the second half when Jamie Cureton linked up with Alex Jakubiak, who passed to Andre Boucaud in space. But the Trinidad and Tobago international smashed an effort wide in the 65th minute. Pompey responded with Josh Passley a constant threat on the right and he had a shot deflected, which Mark Cousins gratefully grasped at his near post. But neither team was able to find a telling strike and it finished goalless, which keeps both teams on 34 points.
