The Sky Poker Cash Game, shown on Sky Sports HD3, continued this week with episode 2.
The Sky Poker Cash Game, shown on Sky Sports HD3, continued this week with episode 2. The scene was set in the opening show of the series, and now the players are settling down, the banter is flowing and their stacks of chips are ebbing and flowing. They play for real money, but as is the custom in poker, there is no cash on the table; cash is represented by poker chips which have a monetary value. In each episode, there are two sports celebrities, and four poker players, a mixture of pros and amateurs. Episodes 1 and 2 feature Wayne Mardle, legend of the darts world, and a regular commentator on Sky Sports. Wayne had a ball, and Twitter came alive with tweets commenting on the Sky Poker Cash Game. If you want to follow Wayne on Twitter, his handle is @Wayne501Mardle. Also playing was "Mr Youngest", the one and only Norman Whiteside, (@NormanWhiteside) who was, in football, pretty much the youngest player to do so many things. Still immensely revered by many, Norman is still involved with Manchester United at Old Trafford. He is currently making a TV documentary about his career, which should make compelling viewing. Representing poker, Sam Razavi plays in every episode. Sam plays poker all over the world, in 2012 alone he played in 39 different countries, and his live winnings so far are in excess of $1,000,000. If Sam were not involved in poker, he could make a good living as an impressionist, and his impersonations are absolutely brilliant. Listen out during the show, there are some real gems there. Neil Channing is another globetrotting poker player, equally at home in the WSOP in Vegas, the Aussie Millions in Melbourne, or sat at home, playing online poker. His nickname is "BadBeat", as he used to tell "bad beat" stores after every game of poker. Not so much these days though, as he is a big winner these days, both as a poker player and a sports bettor. His laconic catchphrase "marvellous" is known thought the world of poker. Rob Yong, a veteran of the biggest poker cash games in the UK, and owner of the best poker venue in Europe, has his own style of playing, unconventional to say the least. He plays EVERY hand, with any two cards, and relies on his post-flop skills to bluff players off better hands. "Rastafish" made quite a hit in Episode 1, and this continues in Episode 2. His real name is Colburn Tomlin, and his son plays football for Southend United. Rastafish is nothing if not LOUD, but it is all part of his style, and no malice is ever intended. You have not experienced real poker until you have shared a table with this larger than life character! We also see a pro poker player called Ryan Spittles. Ryan is a remarkable character. Three years ago, he was an amateur poker player, losing money most nights. He decided to get serious about poker, studied the game hard, and is now a fully-fledged and much respected pro poker player, with wins in Las Vegas to his credit. He now also has a slot as a Poker Analyst on Sky Poker, Channel 861. If you thought poker was too serious, and nobody talked or smiled, think again. As you will see from the six episodes of the Sky Poker Cash Game, playing poker can be fun if you want it to be. And it is. Poker is FUN, it really is. You should try it. Episode 3 of the Sky Poker Cash Game airs on Sky Sports 3 HD at 10pm on Tuesday 19th February.Sky Poker Cash Game - Episode 2
