On Soccer AM...

Image: Sharpe: early days at Utd

Lee Sharpe, Ray Winstone, James Buckley, and Editors will all be on the orange sofas this week!

Let the countdown begin for another three hours of goals, goals, goals and the best line-up of guests you'll find anywhere on a Saturday morning! Kicking things off in the studio will be former Manchester United and Leeds star Lee Sharpe! A gifted left winger, Sharpe began his career at Torquay in the late '80s where after just 16 first team appearances he was snapped up by Manchester United for £200,000 - a record for a YTS player at the time. Capped eight times for England between 1991 and 1995, Sharpe went on to play 265 games for United, winning a host of silverware along the way before moving to Leeds in 1996. Unfortunately his time at Elland Road was severely blighted by injuries. After an impressive first season, the Celebrity Love Island star suffered a serious knee injury in pre-season and missed the entire 1997-98 campaign. Spells on loan at Sampdoria, Bradford and Portsmouth followed before he eventually joined Exeter City in 2002 before deciding it was time to hang up his boots a year later. Despite retiring, the 38-year-old continued to hit the headlines with various appearances on reality TV shows, however more recently he has founded The Lee Sharpe Foundation which aims to help underprivileged kids in Africa. He'll be telling us all about that, and giving his verdict on this year's Premier League title race with one of his former employers firmly in the hunt.

Hollywood

Next out of the tunnel will be a man who is making his tenth appearance on the show... oh and he's one of Hollywood's biggest stars too! He might have starred alongside the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, Jack Nicholson, Harrison Ford, and Mel Gibson, but Ray Winstone still finds time to get down to Upton Park to watch his beloved West Ham! As ever the former amateur boxer has been working hard since we last saw him, with no less than six of his films expected to be released in the coming months, and he will be giving us the inside track on what to expect. And of course we'll be talking about the goings ons at Upton Park in what has been a massive week for the Hammers.
Funny
Following Winstone into the studio will be one quarter of the funniest sitcom on TV; The Inbetweeners! Back in October Simon Bird, Blake Harrison and Joe Thomas (aka Will, Neil and Simon) dropped into the studio, while fellow Inbetweener James Buckley was busy filming. Naturally, we didn't want him to feel left out, so we've invited him back on by himself to tell us about playing a young Del Boy in the new Only Fools and Horses prequel, Rock and Chips, and we'll no doubt give him the opportunity to stitch up the other boys if he fancies! Completing this week's line-up, and adding a musical twist to the show will be Editors duo Chris Urbanowicz and Ed Lay! The boys, who will be making their third appearance on the show, have just returned from a sunny Christmas and New Years in Australia in time to promote their new single You Don't Know Love, which is out on Monday. Their latest album, This Light and on This Evening, was inspired by The Terminator according to the indie rockers so we're assuming they're big Arnie fans! We'll be asking them all about that and their upcoming U.S. tour.
Favourites
That completes our guests, but as always, we've got all your favourites too, including, Skill Skool with Ballmouth, Rushden Roulette, Crossbar Challenge with Wycombe, Leeds United duo Jermaine Beckford and Neil Kilkenny take on the Bullseye Challenge and Barnet's Jake Cole shows us his Tatts! Plus, we'll be showing you footage of the throw which landed P.E. teacher Danny Brooks a world record, Jermaine Jenas tells us what his favourite tunes are in MP3 and last but by no means least, Michael Owen tells us why he loves football! So tune in to watch all the gang, this week's stunning Soccerette, plus our fans of the week, Dundee United, 9am, Saturday on Sky Sports 1 and Sky1.
