Marvadene Anderson’s unavailability due to visa issues has led Manchester Thunder to replace her with Joyce Mvula.
Jamaica's Anderson, a 6ft11in shooter, has been forced to withdraw from representing Thunder who have moved swiftly to snap up Malawi's Mvula instead.
Mvula, 22, has represented her country in the 2014 Commonwealth Games and the 2015 Netball World Cup.
She also played for The Queens in the Fast5 tournament, beating the England Roses to take third place.
Thunder coach Karen Greig said: "I am excited to have Joyce on board, having observed her during the Netball World Cup last year and Fast5, more recently.
"Joyce has proven that she is an exciting shooter who has great physical capabilities, and the ability to play both Goal Shooter and Goal Attack. She will pose a great threat to any defence she faces."
Mvula said: "I am really happy to be playing in the Superleague as it is one of the best in the world.
"Coming from Malawi, for me, it is a great achievement."
