Martin Fourcade held on for victory and a gold medal by the finest of margins in the Winter Olympics men's biathlon 15km mass start.
Millimetres determined the outcome as Fourcade battled Germany's Simon Schempp, with the two athletes crossing the finishing line in unison.
The situation was all too familiar for Fourcade, who had to settle for 15km silver at the past two Olympics and lost out to Norway's Emil Hegle Svendsen in a photo finish in 2014.
Heading for the finish in Pyeongchang, Fourcade thought he had missed out on gold once again and slammed his poles into the snow upon crossing the line.
However, the photo finish determined the Frenchman to have narrowly won the contest.
The event combines skiing and shooting, with the men's 15km event featuring five laps of a 3km course, with four shooting rounds - the first two prone and the second two standing.
