Team GB's two-time Olympic boxing champion Nicola Adams hopes to inspire others to take up boxing.
Adams furthered her Olympic legacy by winning women's flyweight gold at Rio 2016 on Saturday, earning a unanimous points decision over France's Sarah Ourahmoune to become the first woman to win back-to-back Olympic gold medals.
Adams also became the first Team GB boxer to retain an Olympic title in 92 years after withstanding a late fightback from Ourahmoune.
After her prestigious achievement, Adams says she hopes her performances have made an impression on females to take up the sport.
"I'd love to be able to see more girls coming into the sport and taking over and hopefully winning some more gold medals in the future," she told Sky Sports News HQ.
"It's really nice to put boxing on the map, especially women's boxing.
"There were tons of well done messages [on Twitter] saying 'you've been absolutely great, you've inspired me to take up sport.'
"It was just really nice to see and an honour as well to be thought of so highly."
Adams was also quick to point to the health benefits of boxing and the joy the sport gives her.
"With women's boxing, when you see me come to the ring I have a smile on my face," she said.
"I'm really enjoying it. It's a great sport, it's good for fitness, an all-round body workout. What more could you ask for?"
At the age of 32, it is not yet known whether Adams will look to compete at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020 and go for three gold medals in a row. Right now, Adams says she is undecided over what the next four years hold.
She said: "Its just too soon at the moment [to decide],
"I need to have a nice holiday, have a nice break, get some more sunshine and see what we [Adams and her team] do when I get back."
