Former New Zealand All Blacks star Mils Muliaina has been charged by British police with sexual assault.

The incident involving the 34-year-old full-back, who won 100 caps for the All Blacks over a nine-year period, and a female reportedly took place in Cardiff four months ago.

Muliaina has been charged after being interviewed by South Wales Police on Wednesday, the New Zealand Herald claims.

South Wales Police confirmed in a statement on Friday: "Mils Muliaina has been charged with sexual assault on a female aged 16 or over.

"He is scheduled to appear at Cardiff Magistrates Court on August 7, 2015."
