Stade Francais awarded 28-0 win and Timisoara Saracens fined over postponement

Stade Francais have been awarded a five-point win from their postponed European Challenge Cup clash with Timisoara Saracens.

The Romanian side were forced to call off last week's fixture because of poor weather, but they were found not to have sufficiently protected their pitch and have been fined £26,000.

They were scheduled to host Stade Francais at the Dan Paltinisanu stadium in the European Challenge Cup on Saturday, but conditions led to the game's postponement and eventual cancellation.

The fine and result were decided by an independent disciplinary committee.

A statement from European Professional Club Rugby, read: "The committee determined that Timisoara Saracens' preparation of the playing surface was deficient.

"Pitch covers were not provided, the undersoil heating system was not ready in good time and no suitable alternative venue for the match was available.

"The committee also found that there were no exceptional circumstances and it decided to award five match points to Stade Francais on the basis of a four-try bonus point result of 28-0 and imposed a fine of 30,000 euros on Timisoara Saracens."
