Caroline Wozniacki cruised into the fourth round at Wimbledon after defeating Camila Giorgi 6-2 6-2 on Saturday.

The No 5 seed made light work of her Italian opponent and will now face Garbine Muguruza of Spain.

Wozniacki, the former world No 1, has never made it past the fourth round at the All England Club and will be aiming to avoid a fifth defeat at that stage.

Muguruza had to work harder for her victory as she overcame No 10 seed Angelique Kerber 7-6 (14-12) 1-6 6-2.

Colombia-born Muguruza knocked Serena Williams out of last year’s French Open but has always struggled at Wimbledon, with her only previous victory in two visits coming against Britain's Anne Keothavong in 2013.

The tie-break that settled the opening set on Court Two was finally won when Muguruza put away a drive volley and then, on the next point, pressured Kerber into hitting a forehand wide to make it 14-12.

The setback did not deter 2012 Wimbledon semi-finalist Kerber, who wasted no time in claiming the second set.

But the German left-hander then let the contest slip away as she twice dropped serve to allow Muguruza to take advantage.

Elsewhere, Agnieszka Radwanska also advanced after a 6-1 6-4 win over Casey Dellacqua of Australia.

There were few dramas for the No 13 seed in the first set as she raced through it but she struggled in the second, slumping to 4-0 down.

The Pole then rallied to win the next six straight games though, to progress to round four, where she will take on former world No1 Jelena Jankovic after she knocked out 2014 champion Petra Kvitova.

American Madison Keys, coached by former Wimbledon champion Lindsay Davenport, reached round four for the first time by defeating Germany's Tatjana Maria.

Keys sent down nine aces and hit a series of winners, to claim a 6-4 6-4 win on Court 12.

And it was proving a grim day for Germany as former runner-up Sabine Lisicki joined Maria and Kerber in exiting at the third-round stage.

Lisicki bowed out 6-3 6-2 at the hands of Swiss Timea Bacsinszky to leave Germany with no representatives left in the women's singles.

Next up for Bacsinszky is Monica Niculescu after the Romanian recorded a 6-3 7-5 success against Kristyna Pliskova.

Meanwhile, following her heroics in a spirited defeat to Serena Williams in the singles, Heather Watson suffered two further Wimbledon defeats.

First, she and doubles partner Marina Erakovic were knocked out by Spanish pair Anabel Medina Garrigues and Arantxa Parra Santonja in the second round of the women's doubles.

That was followed by defeat in the mixed doubles on Saturday evening, as she and partner Max Mirnyi were eliminated in the first round.

Watson and Belarusian Mirnyi were in early control of their match on Court Three against Ukrainian Olga Savchuk and Austrian Oliver Marach but lost 6-7 7-6 6-4.
