In an exclusive interview with Sky Sports News, Triple H confirms WWE's interest in signing former UFC star Ronda Rousey

WWE is interested in signing former UFC champion Ronda Rousey, Triple H has exclusively told Sky Sports.

Rousey has been out of the spotlight since being stopped by Amanda Nunes in the first round of their bantamweight world title fight at UFC 207 in December 2016.

A return to the UFC octagon appears unlikely for the 30-year-old but Triple H, who serves as the WWE's executive vice president of talent and creative, confirmed he is keen to sign her.

Rousey appeared alongside The Rock at WrestleMania 31 in 2015, when she put Triple H's wife Stephanie McMahon into a submission hold and slammed 'the Cerebral Assassin' to the mat.

"Ronda has made no secret her whole career that she has been a huge fan of WWE growing up," Triple H told Sky Sports News.

"She has been on record saying WWE is probably some of the most fun that she has ever had in her entire career.

"I have been out there publicly saying that if she wants the opportunity I am happy to give it to her.

"She is looking for the opportunity so it seems like a perfect match-up. I am excited to have the conversation with her and see where it goes."

Rousey was involved in her first WWE storyline when she confronted Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch and Bayley after a taping of the Mae Young Classic

Rousey dropped a firm hint she could be set to cross over to wrestling last month when she and fellow ex-MMA competitors Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke, were confronted by WWE stalwarts Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch and Bayley after a taping of the Mae Young Classic.

The trio were supporting Shayna Baszler, the final member of MMA's 'Four Horsewomen', who was competing in the WWE tournament.

She also spent time training at the WWE Performance Center in Florida this year and her nickname 'Rowdy' is in tribute to WWE Hall of Famer Roddy Piper.
