Lucas Browne wants to return to the ring again, but is in no rush to decide his next career move following Saturday's defeat to Dillian Whyte, says his promoter Ricky Hatton.

The Australian was conscious and talking before leaving the O2 arena despite being left motionless on the canvas by Whyte in the sixth round.

Dillian Whyte had a message for Deontay Wilder after his spectacular knockout victory over Lucas Browne

Former two-weight world champion Ricky Hatton, who is also Browne's promoter, wished his fighter well in his recovery but admits the 38-year-old will be disappointed with his performance on Saturday night in London.

"Lucas Browne needs to take some time out and we can talk about next steps in good time," said Hatton.

"I'm his promoter but boxer to boxer he will know there are some things he would want to do differently I'm sure, but that is a conversation for another day.

"For now it is a case of congratulating Dillian Whyte on his performance and wishing Lucas a speedy recovery.

David Haye was impressed with Dillian Whyte’s highlight reel knockout win against Lucas Browne

"Lucas is well. That is the most important thing in all of this. I would like to thank all the medical staff at ringside and the Royal London Hospital for their care of Lucas.

"Also the BBBoC who I believe are the best in the world when it comes to boxers safety. Matchroom and Dillian Whyte's camp also deserve credit for the way in which they handled the immediate aftermath of the fight."
