The Coatbridge boxer has plenty too prove after two shaky title defences in the past 12 months against Jose Gonzalez and Ray Beltran.
Burns had his jaw broken in the second round by Beltran, showing tremendous heart to hear the final bell albeit most fortunate to come away with a draw.
But with the jaw fixed Burns is looking to put on a big show against an unbeaten American who is expected to provide his toughest test yet.
"It's always good to take a look at your opponent, but I just can't wait to step through those ropes," he told Sky Sports after the final press conference.
"I've heard it's going to be a 10,000 sellout so it's going to be a great atmosphere.
"I'm trying to put everything to the back of my mind. I just want to go out there and do my job and once that bell rings it just comes down to me and him so the best man will win on the night.
"This is going to be a very difficult fight but I couldn't be happier with the preparation has gone. I know what he's going to bring to the table I'm going to be ready for.
"We've got Plan A and Plan B and I just can't wait to get in there and put on a good performance for everybody."
