Juan Manuel Marquez’s trainer has admitted the Mexican star would be interested in facing Kell Brook if he decides to continue his career.

The 41-year-old, who holds a stunning stoppage win over Manny Pacquiao, has been forced to consider his future due to a serious knee injury.

Ignacio Beristain, his respected trainer, believes Marquez's plans could still involve Brook, who makes the first defence of his IBF welterweight title against Jo Jo Dan this Saturday night, live on Sky Sports.

But he ruled out the possibility of 'Dinamita' travelling to Britain for a meeting with the Sheffield man.

Speaking to Behind the Gloves website, he said: “Definitely that’s an interesting fight, but that’s something that the promoters have to talk about.

“Fighting the winner makes it interesting. But here in the States, going to the UK - impossible.”

Amir Khan has also stepped up to the 147lb division and is waiting to find out his next opponent.

But Beristain insists his fighter will not consider Khan until he regains a world belt.

“Juan Manuel Marquez’s interest is in the title. Not any other fight. Amir Khan is not in the picture.”

Marquez is one of the few men to have faced both Pacquiao and Mayweather, who will finally meet on May 2, live on Sky Sports Box Office.

He suffered a one-sided points loss to Mayweather in 2009 and Beristain believes the American can repeat this result against Pacquiao.

The 75-year-old, who also worked Oscar De La Hoya’s corner for his 2008 stoppage defeat by Pacquiao, said: “Very hard fight, difficult fight, but the fight from my belief is going to decision.

“Mayweather has more chance to win that fight.”
