Joe Gallagher discusses Frampton vs Quigg and Shane McGuigan

Joe Gallagher has questioned Shane McGuigan's skills as a trainer and branded his rival 'out of order'.

McGuigan is preparing IBF world super-bantamweight champion Carl Frampton (21-0-KO14) to face Gallagher's Scott Quigg (31-0-2-KO23) in Manchester on February 27 - live on Sky Sports Box Office - and the mind games have already begun.

Of McGuigan, Gallagher told Sky Sports News HQ: "There's a rivalry. It's not on my part.

"There's a lot of smoke and fanfare around Shane McGuigan obviously because he's the son of Barry McGuigan.

"The jury is still out on him as a trainer. I was a bit disappointed about the article where he tried to take all the credit for all the work that has been done with Carl over the years. He tried to take away what [Frampton's former trainer] Gerry Storey had done with him.

"I thought that was a bit out of order. He's new to the game and he just needs to knuckle down and crack on with it."

With George Groves and David Haye recently joining McGuigan's stable, this is not likely to be the last time the pair find themselves in opposite corners; Groves and Gallagher's super-middleweight hopeful Callum Smith are seemingly on a collision course.

Gallagher also suggested he would be interested in working with heavyweight David Price, who could be a possible future opponent for another of McGuigan's fighters.

He added: "As far as coming up against him in the future, I'm more than happy. Callum Smith as world champion to take care of George Groves and if David Price wants to come and join me and take on David Haye, that's something that may possibly happen down the line."
