Vernon Philander overcame an upset stomach to take 2-17 as South Africa limited England to 171-4 on day one of the third Test.
The seamer was restricted to only four overs in the morning session before illness forced him off - but managed to dismiss Keaton Jennings in that time - before returning to claim the wicket of captain Joe Root (29).
Alastair Cook led England's resistance with an unbeaten 82 - a highly-skilled innings in often overcast conditions that suited South Africa's seamers - to ensure that the hosts didn't fold. Read our match report here.
