Craig Overton took four wickets as Somerset sent Surrey crashing to an eight-wicket defeat in the Royal London One-Day Cup clash at the Oval.

Overton (4-27) ensured Surrey, One-Day Cup runners-up in each of the last three seasons, were bundled out for 129 in 35.2 overs with his victims including Ollie Pope (0) and Ben Foakes (21).

Johann Myburgh (75no) and James Hildreth (35no) shared an unbroken third-wicket stand of 96 as Somerset prevailed with 171 balls remaining, after Sam Curran picked up the wickets of Steven Davies (12) and Peter Trego (0) in the sixth over of the visitors' reply.

Surrey are aiming to go one better in 2018 having lost in the final of this competition to Nottinghamshire (2017), Warwickshire (2016) and Gloucestershire (2015).

Gloucestershire opened their campaign with an eight-wicket win over Glamorgan at Sophia Gardens as Chris Liddle (4-60) and Danny Worrall (3-47).

Batting first, Glamorgan were all out for 264 after 49.3 overs - Shaun Marsh top-scoring with 57 and sharing a 98-run stand with Colin Ingram (44).

David Lloyd and Chris Cooke contributed 45 and 39 respectively but neither could go on - the tale of Glamorgan's innings.

In contrast, George Hankins (85) and Chris Dent (80) put on 147 for Gloucestershire's opening wicket before Benny Howell's 68 not out eased his side to their 265-run victory target with 10 balls to spare.
