Off-spinner Amar Virdi has signed a three-year professional contract with Surrey which keeps him at the Kia Oval until at least the end of the 2019 season.
The 18-year-old first represented Surrey at U12 level and earlier this year was awarded a scholarship contract.
Virdi has since gone on to represent England U19s in their recent Test series against Sri Lanka this summer as well as playing regularly for the Surrey second XI.
"I would like to personally thank Alec [Stewart] for giving me the opportunity to join in pre-season training this year and to the club for awarding me the scholarship contract earlier this season," Virdi told Surrey's website.
"This has allowed me to progress my game and I look forward to improving my cricket further at the Kia Oval."
Surrey CCC director of cricket Alec Stewart said: "Amar has great potential and along with his natural talent and willingness to learn I am very pleased he has earned the right to be handed his first professional contract with Surrey."
