It was a superb final and a great way to end what has been a fantastic event, where we have seen shocks everywhere.
Some will say that because so many of the big guns went out early that it takes the gloss off the tournament, but it really doesn't - it adds to it because you get finals like we've seen.
I ended up calling both of them unreliable in commentary and I really meant it, because there was no pattern to how the contest was going.
Simon came out and won the first two sets against the run of play. Daryl was probably the better player throughout the whole final, but somehow managed to lose four sets.
He did it really well to hold it together, but Simon fell apart in the end. We saw in Simon speaking at the end and how pleased he was just to be there at the end of the week.
The wonderful thing about Gurney's game is that he doesn't need a rhythm or routine to play well, which is going to stand him in great stead for the future. He's a difficult customer to play.
It was a close final, which is what we all wanted heading into the contest. We didn't know what was going to happen and neither did they, but what we did get was brilliant.
