Kamui Kobayashi has been confirmed as a Caterham driver for next weekend’s season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

The Formula 1 team were forced to sit out races in the United States and Brazil after falling into administration, but will return for the final meeting of the calendar.

Japan’s Kobayashi agreed to represent Caterham, but a second driver will be announced this week after Marcus Ericsson left to drive for Sauber next season.

"I am happy to be racing with the team in Abu Dhabi. It hasn't been an easy last few weeks, so it will be nice to be back to in the car and work together with the Caterham F1 team members," he said.

Public donations largely covered the cost of the team’s participation in the Middle East and Kobayashi was grateful for the support.

"I would like to thank the fans for supporting the team like they have.  This team is working hard and never gives up," he said.
