Finn says team-mate needs 2007 repeat
Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen has conceded that team-mate Felipe Massa will need McLaren to make mistakes in order for him to take the World Championship.
Like the Finn 12 months ago, Massa heads into the final race of the season in Brazil trailing Lewis Hamilton by seven points.
On that occasion, Raikkonen defied the odds to take the title by winning the race, his cause aided by Hamilton's opening-lap mistakes and a subsequent gearbox problem on his McLaren Mercedes car.
And Raikkonen has now said that Massa needs a similar turn of events if he is going to wrestle the 2008 Drivers' Championship from the Englishman.
"In the end it is not up to us, we can only try to be one-two and it's up to McLaren if they have a problem of finish third, there is nothing we can do," he said.
"The first aim is to try and be one-two and see what happens. There needs to be a bit of luck involved but we will see where we end up.
"Felipe in the end does not have anything to lose, even if we are one-two it is not up to us any more, McLaren need to make mistakes so they need to be fifth, in the end they have more to lose than us, they have more pressure.
"But we need to have a little bit of luck and if they have a very bad weekend then it is not too difficult, we see every race this year they are more or less there, top four of top five, it will be difficult but you never know."
Massa needs to win Sunday's race and have Hamilton finish seventh or lower to take the title.
Alternatively, he could collect second place and become World Champion if Hamilton were to finish eighth or worse.
