Jose Mourinho returns to Milan looking to guide Real Madrid to their first ever victory at the San Siro.

Real look to seal top-spot

Jose Mourinho returns to Milan looking to guide Real Madrid to their first ever victory at the San Siro. The Spanish giants are sailing high at the top of Group G with a perfect nine points from their opening three games. Last time out Real clinched a 2-0 victory over AC Milan at the Santiago Bernabeu and victory in Italy would see them confirm their place in the knockout phase. It is the first time since leaving Inter Milan in the summer that Mourinho returns to the city he had so much success in. And he will have to overturn history if he is to gain victory on his former stomping ground as Madrid have never won at the San Siro in 13 previous visits. Milan come into the game having lost their first league game at home in 2010 at the weekend as Juventus claimed a 2-1 win. But coach Massimiliano Allegri remains in confident mood, saying: "We have to keep Real Madrid under pressure - we can't repeat the technical mistakes we made in the first leg." Mourinho has yet to taste defeat since taking charge of Madrid and he is confident that will not change after Wednesday. "Madrid always had good teams but never won here. It's because it's difficult: simple as that. But I'm sure that Milan are worried," he said.

Team news

Milan go into the game without experienced full-back Massimo Oddo, who was ruled out for up to six weeks last week after damaging a thigh in training. Milan's problems in defence also worsened at the weekend when Daniele Bonera was forced off with a shin problem, but he may still be fit to make the game - although Gianluca Zambrotta is fit to return. Brazilian pair Ronaldinho and Thiago Silva are also fit to return after missing recent games. Mourinho has not made any changes to his squad with Kaka, Ezequiel Garay and Fernando Gago all long-term absentees. Lassana Diarra is fit again following a groin problem but he has not made the trip to Italy.
