Cheltenham moved into the play-off places with a comfortable 4-2 victory over Accrington Stanley at Crown Ground on Saturday afternoon.

With only four minutes on the clock, Jeff Goulding split open the Stanley defence and threaded the ball through for Brian Smikle to slot in between keeper Alex Cisak's legs for his second goal of the season. Smikle was involved in the next goal in the 18th minute, flicking Scott Brown's goalkick into the path of Goulding who shot past Cisak. Out-of-sorts Stanley got one back on 51 minutes when Sean McConville played in a cross from the right and Terry Gornell poked the ball home from 10 yards for his fifth of the season. The Robins got that all-important third when they broke on 74 minutes, Smikle flicked the ball through for Goulding who again placed the ball past Cisak and number four came six minutes later when Smikle found winger Robin Shroot who fired home from 10 yards out. Two minutes from time, Stanley got a penalty when Martin Riley was adjudged to have brought down McConville and Phil Edwards tucked it home but it was too little too late for the Reds who have now gone four games without a victory.
