Top scorer back for Stanley; Mariners appeal Lancashire red

Accrington Stanley can call on Michael Symes to face a Grimsby Town side who will have Olly Lancashire available. Top scorer Symes should go straight back into John Coleman's starting line-up after returning from the three-match ban picked up against league leaders Rochdale last month. Leam Richardson, meanwhile, may have to settle for a place on the bench as he continues his steady recuperation from a groin strain. But Alan Burton is still struggling with an ankle problem and will definitely play no part. Stanley's outside hopes of a play-off places were dented by Saturday's 3-1 defeat at Dagenham but manager Coleman will be hoping they can revitalise their chances with a 10th home win of the season.

Grimsby news

Grimsby defender Lancashire is available for the trip to Accrington after the club appealed his sending-off against Northampton. The centre-half was due to start a suspension after he was dismissed for violent conduct during the 2-1 home defeat on Friday, but an appeal has been lodged. Mariners manager Neil Woods could have another defender back in contention if Paul Linwood can recover from an ankle injury. Forwards Ashley Chambers and Tommy Wright could also return to the squad after minor knocks ruled them out of the game against the Cobblers. Woods could opt to shuffle his pack for a second game in four days. Adrian Forbes made his first appearance since the end of November as a substitute on Friday following a broken leg, while Nick Hegarty, Mark Hudson, Adam Proudlock, Jude Stirling and Robbie Stockdale provide further options.
