Anthony Charles' fourth goal of the season was enough to end Bradford's mini-revival and earn Aldershot their first home win in four games.
The former Barnet centre-back stayed forward following a 54th-minute corner and found space in the box to fire home and bring the Bantams' two-match winning run to a halt.
But it was Bradford who started the brighter and they had two good chances to go ahead in the first half.
First, James Hanson rose highest only to see his header stopped on the line by Aldershot goalkeeper Stephen Henderson after 24 minutes, before Mark McCammon stabbed wide 10 minutes later.
Aldershot hit their stride after the break and Charles bagged the winner, but Kevin Dillon's play-off chasers should have had a second.
Hylton forced Matt Glennon into a double save 10 minutes from time and substitute Damian Spencer fired over from six yards out as the home side closed out the game.
