Goalkeeper saves three penalties against Altrincham

Goalkeeper Conrad Logan was Luton's hero as the 10-man Hatters triumphed 4-2 on penalties away to Blue Square Premier outfit Altrincham. Logan saved two spot-kicks in the shoot-out which came after 120 minutes of goalless action in a match which did not kick off until 8.20pm due to floodlight problems at Moss Lane. Mick Harford's League Two side were reduced to 10 men when Sol Davis was dismissed for bringing down Chris Senior in the 67th minute. Warren Peyton missed a glorious opportunity to make a name for himself as he saw his resulting penalty saved by Logan. That clearly gave Logan a taste for what was to follow as he produced further stops from Mark McGregor and Robbie Lawton in the shoot-out to send his side through. The Hatters' reward for booking their place in the second round is a testing trip to Roots Hall to tackle Southend.
