Anderlecht v Tottenham preview: Spurs look to stay top of Group J

Tottenham will look to continue a positive start to their Europa League campaign when they travel to Anderlecht on Thursday (kick-off 6pm).

Mauricio Pochettino's side top Group J after beating Qarabag and then earning a point in Monaco.

Since the 1-1 stalemate with Monaco, Spurs have drawn against Swansea and Liverpool in the Premier League and will be looking to win their first match since beating Man City 4-1 on September 26.

The meeting with Anderlecht will be a repeat of the 1984 UEFA Cup Final, which Spurs won 4-3 on penalties after a 2-2 aggregate draw.

The Belgian side prop up Group J with one point having also drawn with Monaco and suffering a surprise 1-0 defeat to Qarabag.

Domestically, Besnik Hasi's team have lost just once in 11 league games this season and sit third in the Pro League table.

Pochettino has a decision to make over whether to field Harry Kane. after the striker suffered a knock against Liverpool in Saturday's draw at White Hart Lane on Saturday.

Ryan Mason returns to the squad but Heung-Min Son (foot), Federico Fazio (hamstring), Nabil Bentaleb and Nacer Chadli (both ankle) are all missing for Spurs.

Eric Dier is available having sat out Saturday's Premier League game through suspension.

Stefano Okaka, who has six league goals this season, is likely to start up front for the hosts alongside Imoh Ezekiel.

All three of the previous meetings between the two sides have ended 1-1. The most recent was in December 2007 in a UEFA Cup group stage match in Brussels.

Tottenham have only met one other Belgian side in Europe, winning two and losing one of their three encounters with Club Brugge.

Anderlecht have won just one of their last 18 European games (2-0 to Galatasaray in November 2014), drawing seven and losing ten.

Anderlecht's last victory over English opposition in Europe was against Manchester United in October 2000 in the Champions League. Since then they have drawn two and lost seven.
