Robert Lewandowski waved farewell to Borussia Dortmund fans in his last home match for the club in a 3-2 win over Hoffenheim. The Polish striker will move to rivals Bayern Munich in the summer, but Lewandowski was given a standing ovation before kick-off and presented with some commemorative gifts. Despite going behind to Roberto Firmino's early goal, Dortmund prevailed thanks to goals from Kevin Grosskreutz, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Lukasz Piszczek, while Hoffenheim scored a second through Niklas Sule. Firmino broke the deadlock after three minutes when Mats Hummels was dispossessed by Kevin Volland who charged into the box, setting up the Brazilian and he made no mistake from 10 yards. Hoffenheim almost doubled their lead four minutes later, but Hummels headed Volland's effort off the line. There were chances galore for both sides due to a combination of quick counter-attacking and some poor defending at both ends. Dortmund failed to level with chances missed by Marco Reus, Lewandowski and Milos Jojic before the ball was finally in the net in the 29th minute thanks to a neat finish from Grosskreutz. Within 100 seconds, however, Dortmund were ahead through Armenian ace Mkhitaryan who acrobatically headed the ball home from six yards. Hoffenheim's attacking duo of Volland and Firmino continued to threaten and the former passed up a fine chance minutes later to level. Instead, Dortmund added a third. Right-back Piszczek thumped home with conviction on the half-volley in the 35th minute. Hoffenheim scored a second through Sule's 35-yard shot which squeezed embarrassingly through Roman Weidenfeller's legs. The Dortmund keeper made up for his blunder with a smart save from Sejad Salihovic late in the game to keep the home side ahead. Dortmund will complete the campaign at Hertha Berlin before the DFB Pokal final against Bayern Munich on May 17.
