Monchengladbach fall to 10-man hosts

Borussia Dortmund overcame the first-half dismissal of Tamas Hajnal to secure a 2-1 victory over struggling Borussia Monchengladbach. The Dortmund midfielder was given his marching orders seven minutes before the interval after receiving two yellow cards in the space of five minutes, the second for a crunching tackle on goalkeeper Christofer Heimeroth. The home side were already a goal to the good when they were reduced to 10 men with Mohamed Zidan beating Heimeroth with a right-foot shot from outside the box. Jurgen Klopp's men extended their advantage soon after the break as Jakub Blaszczykowski set up Nuri Sahin to find the bottom corner of the net. Monchengladbach, who have won just once on their travels this season, halved the deficit 10 minutes from time when Johannes van den Bergh struck. But the visitors could not fashion an equaliser in the closing stages and Dortmund extended their unbeaten record at Signal Iduna Park to climb to sixth in the table.
