Birmingham boss Garry Monk will assess Kristian Pedersen who missed the 2-0 win over Stoke on Boxing Day with an ankle problem.
Jota made his first start since November 10 after a groin problem so is available to face his former side but Marc Roberts (hamstring) is out.
The hosts will be without long-term injury absentees David Davis (ankle) and Isaac Vassell (hip).
Brentford defender Chris Mepham remains a doubt for the Bees' trip to St Andrew's after he missed the 1-1 draw at Bristol City because of a knock and Yoann Barbet stands by to deputise.
Lewis Macleod (hamstring) and Emiliano Marcondes (ankle) remain sidelined.
Following a run of four straight victories over Brentford, Birmingham City are winless in their last four league games against the Bees, losing three and drawing the reverse fixture earlier this season.
Brentford are looking to win three straight away matches at Birmingham in all competitions for the first time since December 1990.
