Bordeaux's disappointing season finished on a high at the Stade Chaban-Delmas with a 2-1 victory over lowly Evian.

Bordeaux's disappointing season finished on a high at the Stade Chaban-Delmas with victory over lowly Evian in a warm-up for next week's Coupe de France. A first-half Cheikh Diabate brace was enough to secure the points for Les Girondins despite a Yannick Sagbo reply on the stroke of half-time, preserving an unbeaten run at home which dates back to February. Evian began the day just three points above the drop-zone but their significantly better goal difference meant only an absolute catastrophe would result in their relegation. Les Girondins made the perfect start when Diabate was hauled down inside the area by Johann Durand and referee Antony Gautier was left with no choice but to award the penalty. Diabate took charge and fired the ball beyond Durand to score his seventh Ligue 1 goal of the season. The Mali striker went close to a second moments later when he met Khalid Ben Kalfallah's cross but his header failed to find the target. Cedric Carrasso was called into action in the Bordeaux goal for the first time on the half-hour mark, saving a Saber Khelifa effort minutes before his team doubled their lead. Traore played Diabate in behind the Evian defence and he confidently dribbled round Durand before finishing. Evian hauled themselves back into the game right on the stroke of half-time when Barbosa was brought down by Carrasso inside the area and the referee pointed to the spot. The job of scoring from 12 yards was left to Yannick Sagbo and he made no mistake to give his team a lifeline going into the break. A potential second-half comeback from Evian failed to materialise though and it was Bordeaux who went closest when Diabate got on the end of a Maurice-Belay pass but, with only Durand to beat, his effort came back off the upright.
