Luke Hendrie denied Stuart McCall a winning start as Grimsby grabbed a 1-1 Sky Bet League Two draw at Valley Parade.
McCall replaced Gary Bowyer earlier this week - two years after being sacked by the Bantams.
A crowd of 17,668, Bradford's biggest of the season, witnessed McCall's return but former Bradford loanee Hendrie's stoppage-time equaliser meant their wait for a first win since New Year's Day goes on.
There were few chances in the first half although Bradford did force seven corners. Jake Reeves, who McCall signed from Wimbledon in the summer of 2017, and Dylan Connolly went closest with shots over the bar.
Reeves was just wide with a curling free-kick in the second half before Callum Cooke fired Bradford in front with 10 minutes left.
Dylan Mottley-Henry's cross was cleared as far as the midfielder who drove through a crowd of players, Lee Novak appearing to get a touch on the way.
But Hendrie, a player McCall wanted to sign in 2018, popped up in added time when he turned in Charles Vernam's cross from close range.
