Bradford v Shrewsbury preview

Team news for Saturday afternoon's League Two clash between Bradford and Shrewsbury at Valley Parade.

Bradford goalkeeper Lenny Pidgeley is in contention but Kevin Ellison is doubtful. Pidgeley has missed the last two games due to a thigh injury, so manager Peter Jackson must decide whether to recall him or stick with deputy Jon McLaughlin. Winger Ellison strained his thigh in training this week and is a doubt along with defender Luke Oliver (hamstring). Simon Ramsden (thigh) and Shane Duff (calf) remain sidelined, leaving Steve Williams as the only recognised centre-half. Midfielder Jon Worthington sits out with a one-game ban following his two yellow cards at Gillingham last Saturday. Jackson is expected to include teenage striker Darren Stephenson, a second-year apprentice, on the substitutes' bench. Shrewsbury will be able to call upon James Collins for the away trip. The striker was due to link-up with the Republic of Ireland's Under-21 squad for their friendly in Portugal on Friday evening, but he withdrew earlier this week after Shrews boss Graham Turner instead asked for him to be made available for the club's promotion bid. However, Turner will be unable to hand a debut to new loan signing Niall Canavan after he was drafted into the Irish Under-21 set-up on Tuesday afternoon. Fellow defender Jermaine Grandison also remains unavailable as he serves the second game of a three-match suspension for the red card received at Torquay. David Raven stepped in for last weekend's 1-1 draw against Wycombe and is again expected to keep his place in the Shrews rearguard, with Turner likely to keep the same XI who drew against their promotion rivals at the Greenhous Meadow.
