Canaries leave it late to sneak past Brighton

Veteran Gary Doherty scored a late winner to secure a crucial 2-1 victory at Brighton to send Norwich four points clear at the top of League One. Two goals in the last 10 minutes saw the Canaries recover from a goal down to record their fifth win in six matches in all competitions. Doherty added to Grant Holt's 80th minute leveller, which cancelled out an Elliot Bennett free-kick in the first half. The Seagulls had taken the lead through Bennett's free-kick from 20 yards in the 20th minute and the south coast side looked well set to claim three points in their battle against relegation as they reached the final 10 minutes with their lead intact. However, the league leaders had different ideas and they drew level in the 80th minute through Holt's shot from a Wes Hoolahan cross. Four minutes later and the game was turned on its head when Doherty headed home Darel Russell's free-kick from close range to seal an unlikely victory. With Leeds drawing 1-1 at Leyton Orient, thanks to an injury-time Charlie Daniel own goal, it means the Canaries' lead at top is extended to four points.
