Brighton v Southend preview

Brighton could receive a double striker boost for the game against Southend, who have no new problems.

Double boost for Slade, no new worries for Tilson

Brighton & Hove Albion could receive a double striker boost for the game against Southend United, who have no new problems. Skipper Nicky Forster (calf) and fellow frontman Glenn Murray (hernia) trained on Monday morning and should be fit enough at least for places on the bench. Defender Colin Hawkins and midfielder Chris Birchall (both calf) will also be in contention as Albion's injury crisis finally starts to ease. Winger Dean Cox returns from a one-match suspension to further boost Slade's options, but Adam Virgo serves the third of his five-game ban. Still missing are full-back Jim McNulty, who is out of hospital following his kidney injury but will not play again this season, and goalkeeper Michel Kuipers (hamstring). Tommy Elphick (ankle), Gary Hart (knee) and Kerry Mayo (hernia) have been pencilled in for a reserve-team run-out later this week.

Southend news

Southend boss Steve Tilson has no new suspension or injury concerns ahead of his side's fixture at the Withdean Stadium. Tilson saw his team come through their 2-0 win over Walsall on Saturday unscathed and the Shrimpers boss could have the luxury of naming an unchanged squad. One possible change could be the inclusion of midfielder Jean Francois-Christophe, who could return after serving a one-game ban. Simon Francis is pushing for a starting place following his impressive substitute showing in Saturday's victory, however Dougie Freedman and Alex Revell both remain sidelined with long-term thigh and leg injuries respectively.
