Goalkeeper Steve Phillips produced a brave save from Mark Yeates 10 minutes from time to secure Bristol Rovers a point from a goalless stalemate with Colchester.
Phillips had to dive to block Yeates' close-range effort after a neat through-ball from Kemal Izzet. It was the only testing save of a forgettable contest.
Colchester had Anthony Wordsworth booked, even though he took no part in the match. The substitute was cautioned for interfering with the taking of a first-half corner while warming up.
Rovers' best chance fell to Jo Kuffour in the opening minute but the striker could only find the side-netting with his low shot.
Rickie Lambert went close with two headers from Stuart Campbell corners but the big frontman has now gone six games without adding to his 18 goals this season.
