Anthony injured, Bakayogo sent off in stalemate

A serious injury to Bristol Rovers defender Byron Anthony was the talking point in a goalless draw with Tranmere, who finished with 10 men. Anthony was stretchered off just before the break with a leg problem after a last ditch challenge on Tranmere striker Bas Savage. Tranmere's left-back Zoumana Bakayogo was red carded for a second bookable offence in injury time. Paul McLaren and Ian Thomas-Moore missed early chances for the visitors, while Jeff Hughes and Paul Heffernan went close for Rovers at the death. But there were few scoring opportunities in between, although Tranmere goalkeeper Luke Daniels did well to keep out a 35th-minute free kick from Chris Lines. Tranmere defended with discipline and organisation to frustrate their opponents and earn a well deserved point.
